ECONYL® 100% regenerated nylon is made of waste from oceans and landfills, including abandoned fishing nets and other discarded nylon waste. The company behind the ECONYL® process is one of the founders of the non-profit Healthy Seas initiative. Its volunteer divers are creating cleaner oceans by collecting abandoned fishing nets and other marine litter from the waters. It is these plastics that are the most dangerous to marine life.
Working together with the creators of ECONYL® fibre, we’ve been able to re-use recovered waste. This means we can create new products without using new resources. All of our pieces have a focus on long-term, renewable fashion.

Philomén is supporting a circular economy. Our swimwear is locally manufactured in Budapest, Europe by talented seamstresses working in a safe, family environment. All of our items are made from ECONYL® regenerated nylon fibres, designed and sewn by hand. Our design and tailoring process is ethically produced. Philomén garments are available in limited numbers only, as our aim is to be conscious about creating pieces that really will be used, and won’t go to waste.
We’re working towards ethical, zero-waste production. How? If something can’t be re-used, we make other small items from leftover fabrics, or we give our fabric away so others can create something new too. We also have the opportunity to send back unused fabric to the manufacturer of ECONYL® fibre, to support them in their process.
We’re focusing on improving our social and environmental impact, and this includes sustainable packaging. To keep your conscious clear: Our clothing tags are made from recycled paper, and all of our creations are packaged and shipped in paper not plastic.
At Philomén we support and nurture the environment and its wildlife. We’re happy to do so through our donation programme. We’re donating 2% of our sales to the Whales and Dolphin Conservation, the leading global charity dedicated to the conservation and protection of all whales and dolphins.
